Feng Shui My Space!
With the New Year upon us, what better time to get your place organized?
And it can be even more fun when you implement simple concepts from the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui! Feng Shui (pronounced Fong Shway) is an art form that the Chinese and millions of others have used to help organize and harmonize all aspects of their lives. This is done through the positioning of items throughout one’s space (home, office, etc.). While this approach may vary based upon Feng Shui practitioner and philosophy, there are basic principles that apply across the board. Use these basic steps to bring more abundance, love and creativity into your life.
Keep your space clean. This is not your Mother speaking! Believe it or not, an abundance of things detracts abundance.
So get rid of the stacks of papers, old magazines, and dried up pens you’ve been saving for a rainy day. Donate those piles of sweaters and pants to a charity. By eliminating clutter and excess you are actually inviting abundance and good energy into your space.
You need water. To kick up the abundance vibe a notch, place a small, desktop fountain in your home. Not only is the sound of streaming water soothing, but water represents fluidity. It will keep the Chi (energy) flowing. One Feng Shui practitioner suggests not keeping a fountain in your bedroom – it could have the opposite effect!
A splash of color! If you’re not in the mood for buying fountains or clearing your desk, a little bit of color can go a long way. Looking for new beginnings, a fresh start?
Add green to your space, the easiest way is to have a few lush plants around the house to breathe energy into your home. If you want a soothing, healing sensation, add more blue to your life. The color of the sky or even Caribbean blue will instantly put you on vacation! Does your creativity need a boost? Yellow is the color to get your creative juices flowing. If love is on your list, add shades of pink into your space. Pink is the color for love, relationships and marriage. Fluffy pink pillows, sheets and comforter will give you that loving feeling!
