Being Psychic – In Real Life and On the Small Screen

Being a psychic advisor, many of my callers ask me if I am just giving my opinion or is the information coming from a source?  In my readings, the information is always from a natural source that I tap into; never do I offer my opinion. However, writing for the Psychic Source blog allows me to step away from the ego-less realm of readings and share my opinion all I want on TV shows and movies with a psychic theme.

Today I am going to look at NBC’s hit show Medium. Now in its 4th season, the series airs Monday nights at 10:00PM Eastern and is easily one of my favorite shows. For those of you who haven’t seen it, the show focuses on Allison DuBois (played by the talented Patricia Arquette) as a strong-willed mother of three, a devoted wife, and law student who begins to suspect that she can talk to dead people, see the future in her dreams, and read people's thoughts. Fearing for her mental health, she turns for support to her husband who slowly comes to believe that what his wife is telling him just might be true. When I first started watching the show, I felt angry at Allison’s husband for being upset with the process by which she gets her knowledge. Her dreams or sometimes nightmares are the source of her solving crimes or resolving mysteries. It just happens to her and she has no control of what is going to turn up in slumber-land or in a state of meditation.

In my opinion she is very authentic. In the last few episodes Angelica Huston played a private eye who employed Allison but here again I found that her treatment of Allison was just wrong. I even asked my girlfriend (another psychic) about the issue of people having a lack of respect for Allison. After discussing it, we came to the conclusion that most people do not understand what it is to be a visionary psychic and expect the person with the gift to be able to just know things on the spot. It is in my opinion a process, in which by understanding our gifts we can help others to awaken to understanding themselves and those around them in an effort to solve issues and problems. Granted there are people in Allison’s life who adore her and understand her gifts making it easier to get the most out of her. I am curious to know what YOU think about the way she is treated by people who just do not get it?

If you enjoy Medium as much as I do, please check back often.  I’ll be sharing my opinion on future episodes.  See you soon!
