Welcome back to the final installment in our special political/astrological series! As mentioned in the previous two segments, Psychic Source asked resident astrologer Emrys to delve into Presidential Nominee Natal Charts, and she is back with the final installment – Senator Barack Obama. I’ll turn it over to Emrys again one more time!

Thanks to the untiring efforts of the omnipresent media to educate the public, we have all had the opportunity to witness the various public faces of the three most prominent contenders for the 2008 Presidential nominations.  We’ve seen the very best, and the very worst, of their public personas.

Astrologers are able to see beyond the surface and into a person’s private, hidden core, by studying the complex mathematical relationships between planets and points in an individual’s birth, or natal, chart.

What, then, do the individual charts reveal about the Senators who would be President?

This week I'll look at Democratic Party nominee Senator Barack Obama.

Barack Obama

 Aug 4 1961, 1:06 pm, AHST +10:00

 Honolulu HI, 21°N18'25'', 157°W51'30''

The only candidate of the three main contenders to not have Mars in Leo, by virtue of his Leo Sun and Mercury, Barack Obama nonetheless enjoys the self-confidence and strong ambition to succeed with which Senators Clinton and McCain are also gifted.  The placement of Mercury in his 9th house bestows upon Senator Obama a curious, quick mind that never tires of learning, echoed by his Sun, also resident in the 9th house. The placement of these planets also indicates a strong interest in foreign cultures, travel and philosophy.

The Sun in Leo, coupled with his Scorpio ascendant, endows Senator Obama with an almost hypnotic ability to persuade others to help him shine.  It also allows him to achieve the goals important to him, which he, in turn, convinces others are also important to them.  A strong thinker, he is able to use the intuition available via his ascendant to sense which approach will be most effective in bringing others around to his cause.

With Mars in the sign of Virgo, Senator Obama shares his colleagues’ devotion to service and the well-being of those for whom he is responsible, as well as a strong sense of personal responsibility. This placement also gives him the ability to work well within the conventional structure, as he is an energetic, hardworking man who will approach issues in a methodical manner.

While containing several indicators of a service-oriented nature, Senator Obama’s chart is also the only chart of the three to have such a strong ego-driven undertone, as well as a predisposition to not see clearly the underlying basis of his motivations: He should guard against being motivated by his need for the approval of others, his desire for attention and limelight, and the emphasis on public status.  This chart also indicates a strong inclination toward arrogance and dogmatism, as well as a tendency to become almost fanatical in his beliefs or ideals. This in turn could often cause Senator Obama to ignore the feelings or needs of others, thinking that he knows best what they need. He also needs to ensure that his cleverness in communication is based on solid, workable ideas and not just the ability to speak well and convince others of his ideals, with no real solutions to the issues which concern the American people.

CHART SIGNATURE:  Dynamic; charming; intuitive; quick minded; strong-willed; persuasive; tendency toward devotion to ideals without practical foundation.

Now that you have seen all three charts (you can scroll down if you missed either of the 1st two installments), what do you think?   Please share your feedback by posting a comment below. Also, are there other celebrities or newsmakers you would like to see a Natal Chart for?  Please let us know and we'll pass your suggestions along to Emrys!

Fascinating!  I'd love to see Fidel Castro's chart.

Hi Kathi,

Thanks for your feedback.  At your suggestion, I will be preparing  a comparison between the charts of Fidel and Raúl Castro.  As Raúl and I share the same birthday, though he is several decades older than I am, his chart will be of great interest to me.

Thanks for the suggestion and be sure to look for the article in a few weeks!!
