Creating Your Sacred Space - Part 2

Last week Stephanie introduced the concept of creating your Sacred Space. If you missed the article, just scroll down a bit and check it out...  This week Maxine x7791 continues the topic with some more specific ideas you can use right now and all year long to help create a better living environment for you and your family at home! Take it away Maxine...

As we grow, experience and recharge in our sacred spaces there are times when we realize that the way of the flow is not going the “way” we want, or is stuck. I know there are fancy systems to clear and they are indeed wonderful. However, I have put together some easy ways to better your space without putting a label on it. As Frank Sinatra sang “I did it my way” (and just a side note Sid Vicious also did a remake of this song which was his only hit.) I do it my way too, and so can you…

·         If you live in a small space keep things so that you can move them around easily.

·         Change the space with each season. I know you heard of “spring cleaning” yet if we do a “spring cleaning” at the beginning of each season you will see how excellent the home space feels. I call it my “seasonal cleaning”.

·         Bring in different colors with each season. For example, if you are a summer person and it is winter you might be uncomfortable or not at your best leaving you unable to work and play to your full potential. What you do is always have a color of the season you are most happy with in your home. Accent with the seasonal colors. This can be done simply by changing the quilt on the bed, using seasonal flowers, using different color candles, etc.

·         Use your happiest color all year.

·         Create a sense of balance by working with only four colors in each room.

·         If you have a large living space, it is a good idea to put a similar color or item in every room to thread it together. Howver, do not over do this... remember a thread is thin!

·         Embrace the best window in the house by making it a sitting area or point of origin.

·         The earth color brown grounds the room!  No matter what sign you are, brown will bring an earthy vibration that helps stabilize your environment. Believe it or not, brown also is a very sensual color and will lend itself to creating stable relationships.

·         Invest in some organizers – there are many to pick from. From shelves to different size and different material boxes, rolling drawers, steamer trunks and wicker box coffee and end tables for storage. Also, corner units can help break the squareness of a room while hiding all the stuff that sometimes gets out of control.

·         No matter where you are in a room, it should look good to you in all directions.

·         Buy only new mirrors!

·         And last but not least add one of the elements you are most comfortable with. Fire, Water, Earth, or Air. A fireplace, a fountain, plants, ceiling fans… for example.

I hope your sacred space and all of your living environment is a happy one! Remember we create our environment so there is no need to be unhappy in our spaces no matter how small or large old or new! We can make our homes a happy and healthy place to live.

Living life to its best,
